Job description
The Assistant Manager supports the General Manager in the day‑to‑day running of the pub, ensuring excellent customer service, strong team performance, and compliance with company standards. They play a key role in leading shifts, developing the team, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a hospitality role is required.
Being an approved Responsible Person is an advantage, but not essential. If you are not currently approved, you must be willing and able to apply.
What the job involves:
- Creating and managing staff rotas
- Leading shifts and supporting the team during busy periods
- Overseeing stock ordering, deliveries and stock control
- Ensuring high standards of customer service and venue presentation
- Supporting training and development of bar staff
- Handling cashing‑up and basic administrative tasks
- Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and company procedures
- Acting as a key point of contact for staff and management
What we’re looking for:
- At least 2 years’ experience in a hospitality role
- Strong communication and people skills
- Ability to lead by example and motivate a team
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confidence in decision‑making and problem‑solving
- Reliability, professionalism and a positive attitude
- Willingness to take on responsibility, including applying to be a Responsible Person if required
Working hours
Shift-based work, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Flexibility is important.
Training provided
Training will be provided in stock management, leadership, compliance, and operational procedures. Support is available for those applying to become a Responsible Person.
Locations
Roles are available across various Heron & Brearley pubs on the Isle of Man.
